Occasionally I wandered in where I was not wanted and gave truthful answers.
Sometimes I even did it deliberately. A little disruption now can prevent disaster later.

NeoNote — People cherish their passions

Gods, you really don't know me very well, do you? I celebrate passions. There's nothing "devoid of emotion" about it.

This was a story, a small glimpse of how people don't have to define themselves by their victimhood. You don't even have to be bound by your victimhood.

Everybody goes through serious shit. That's not nearly as important as what you do after. Is your shit worse than mine? What would be the point of proving that? Do you really believe that victimhood gives you power? That only lasts as long as the pity, and after a while people will stop pitying you.

I'm not going to one up your horror stories. There's no point. You tried to make this about me, how I did not demonstrate compassion in the Approved Manner. I didn't attack Shepard. I didn't attack the people who want to venerate him. I just said I didn't agree with the reasoning.

I dared to disagree with the narrative, and for that you went after me.

I'm sure you see this as a personal attack. I'm sure you think I'm mocking your pain. I'm not. I told you not to make this about me. I warned you that you would not like what happened. And now that you think I've ripped your scabs off (How DARE I expose you to pain!), you're going to blame me.

Here's the thing. People cherish their passions. Whatever has brought you the most passion, that is what you will seek out. If it is pain from abuse or being attacked, that is what you want. If it is exhilaration from skydiving, that is what you want. If it's the love and acceptance from a loving partner, that is what you want. Whatever has pegged your emotional meter, that is your longing. And if recalling the bad things that happened was your greatest emotion, then you'll tell them on a public web page.

People cherish their passions.

It's not that I "don't care," it's that you need something you can't get over the internet. I don't know you, and frankly a "poor little me" story is not a good indicator in my experience. So I'm going to give you the best help I can under the circumstances.

People cherish their passions. If those passions make you unhappy, then find something else that takes more passion.
