NeoNote — Not about paganism
❝There are people who I do not wish to be associated with. A good general rule of thumb is that someone who describes themselves as a "x" pagan rather than a pagan who happens to be "x" has a political agenda. For them "x" is more important than pagan.
I don't care, I'm not "x," and "x" is not my agenda.
"X" doesn't have anything to do with sun rising in a bit, or the raven I'm going to share my breakfast raspberries with.
"X" is not pagan. And if I don't do and say what the evangelical Christians demand, why in the World should I do and say what "x" demands? On cue, no less, with appropriate outrage.
Every time some one puts "x" first, "x" gets between me and them.
Paganism is not about politics.
I've said it before. Politics is about controlling other people's behavior.
You denounce me because I do not embrace your agenda on cue and on terms that you dictate.
How is this related to paganism?
It's not. It's related to transgender paganism, a very different and very political animal. You're declaring injustice as it relates to a very specific group and only under certain circumstances.
The label is between you and me. I'm not the one who put it there.
I am getting so very tired of people telling me what they think my paganism should be about and should or should not include.
Stars above, if I don't accept that nonsense from the worst of evangelical Christians, why should I accept it from anyone?
Why do you get to define what is and is not a real pagan?
This is why I don't think politics should be part of paganism. Politics corrupt. The People of the Book demonstrate that every day and three times on Sundays.
ETA: For the record, faith is between you and the Divine. No one else. Now I happen to believe a measure of a person is found in the lives they touch. That is not religion, pagan or otherwise. That is just making the World better than how you found it.
One amazing thing about this whole mess is that the ones who found the article offensive have reserved for themselves the power to decide what is and is not acceptable on a website that they don't own and they don't run.
It is not enough that you denounce the original subject, no, the article itself must be removed because it might offend. People must be told how to think, they must not be allowed to decide. For The Greater Good, of course.
I can't even laugh at the irony anymore. These are the seeds that will destroy paganism in a way that monotheisms never could.❞
