The U.S. has some very funky laws when it comes to animal parts, particularly migratory birds.
Ravens are migratory.
There are many, many, many ravens where I live.
I often share breakfast and the occasional afternoon snack with a raven or two. They’ve been known to comment on me, my life, and my food. More my food than anything else I think.
I don’t hunt the birds down, kill them, or remove body parts.
Sometimes ravens leave a primary feather in my yard.
Of course legally I couldn’t take those feathers and make them my ritual tools. That would not be honoring the letter of the law.
But I work with spirits…
