"all of that sunshine,
all of that sweet golden sunshine,
that thrills me and fills me and…"
The four Solar Festivals are the two equinoxes and the two solstices, but that is only four of the eight sabbats. Each of the High Holidays is a Cross Quarter Day offset from the solar calendar by 45 degrees. Usually the High Holidays match pretty well with the seasons in my desert, so that is what I use. For my WebTree path, I celebrate the each High Holiday from sunset to sunset. So starting tonight, you probably won't see me again until Thursday.
On a lighter side, I'm ready to be warm again. It's supposed to hit 84 today.
I didn't have a word for what I was for years. I was the small kid who announced to his family that if there was a God the Father, it was only natural that there had to be a God the Mother too. And Mother Nature was the only one who fit the bill. So I've had the Father Sky/Mother Earth template in my head for as long as I can remember. It wasn't something I learned, it was something I knew. Or maybe that I remembered, I don't know.
I do know I want to feel the sun on my skin. No bonfire for me, but I am going to build the last fire of the season and the house will be hot tonight. I'll sweat the shivers out of me and I will keep vigil at the fire.
