My step-grandad paternal grandfather grandpa was a big letter writer. He wrote everyone. When he wrote me, it was always a special thrill to get the envelope with the grayed out lettering. I associate typewriters with my grandpa and the good feelings I got.
My favorite typewriter font is still American Typewriter, but it costs too much to license for web use. Since this site is not professional, I've used Special Elite from Google fonts for the description blurbs and my direct quote clippings on this site.
Originally I used a box around my direct quotes to suggest a typewritten sticky note. I used the same code for my lexicon. And when it came time to put my timetable together, I used the same code for the boxes around my WebTree sabbats. When I stated using CSS classes, I tweaked the look a bit. When I mostly finished the timetable, I started on the new all-in-one lexicon page.
Big mistake. Special Elite is fine in small doses, but a page full of the font gives you eyestrain. So it's back to Courier for the lexicon. Still, it strikes me as friendly. And it should be easy to update from here on out.
The box above is the same code, only with a span changed to a paragraph. And now all the WebTree sabbats have clippings ready for me to drop into the Today entries as needed.
It's all a slice of life.
