Gods make you stretch
Have you been half asleep and have you heard voices?
I've heard them calling my name.
Is this the sweet sound that called the young sailors.
The voice might be one and the same.
I've heard it too many times to ignore it.
It's something that I'm supposed to be…
It’s all learned behavior maps. Someone flirts, you don’t hack off their head. You flirt back. Someone throws you a ball, you throw it back. Someone offers you fruit, you say thank you.
The programming means we don’t have to pay attention. We know it’s on file somewhere.
Except when it isn’t.
The Robot doesn’t work so well without the proper programming.
And that is where the gods come in.
You see, gods are beyond our perceptions. Gods are beyond our understanding. Gods are beyond anything we know.
Gods are beyond definition.
And yet some of us seek them out.
We have to. We’re driven to. We hear the voices, we see the lights and shadows, we taste the movement. It knows us, and we have to know It. We have to reach beyond ourselves. We have to reach beyond the people and places we’ve known. We have to go where the footing isn’t sure. We have to risk. We are called to make the Journey.
And we have to come back.
The Blessed are the ones who move between the worlds. It’s not that we’re better. It’s not that we have a higher calling. It’s not even that we have the Divine on speed-dial. It’s that the gods pulled on us a little bit so we can reach.
Gods make you stretch.
You can’t seek the Divine without moving well beyond your comfort zone. Each and every time.
Think about that carefully.
The names and conceptions that we attach to Divinity are not Divine. It’s the godmask that we use to protect ourselves. The Divine is through the godmask, not the godmask itself. The way we know we touch the Divine is that we change.
Each and every time.
Magick is the essence of change and evolution.
We bring that change back, we filter it through ourselves, we share it.
Each and every time.
Gods make you stretch.
