Starwell - Solar Festival
Although there are other winter celebrations (if inactive, try this), this is my version. It lasts three days, from sunrise on the day before the solstice to sunrise on the day after the solstice.
I do use some Yule traditions. This year I have family obligations which will cut those short a bit. But greeting the dawn all three days is definitely one I keep.
How is this different than what I do the rest of the year? Well, my grandfather taught me watch the sunrise with a cup of coffee on the porch. On the solstices I have my feet planted firmly, arms raised, and I am chanting.
And there’s a bit of a flame in my patio firepit.
I’m clothed for this one. My dangly bits don’t like cold weather, my feet certainly don’t like cold concrete, and I have nothing to prove.
I’m winterborn. The solstice is one of the holiest days for me.
Bright Blessings to you this season. May the Sun light your way.
