The Lady Always Chooses
There are many reasons, but at the end of the day, I enjoy seduction and the responses I can generate in a woman more than I enjoy coitus. Willing consent and willing surrender to my touch can be bigger turn-ons than penetration.
Now it's time for me to reveal another reason. It's about the poetry and manifestation.
When I read Margaret Murray and Robert Graves the first time, I never did buy into the matriarchy. There seemed to be another reason that they touched on, but it wasn't matriarchy. Neither were really thinking about balance.
Poetic inspiration gives a glimpse. That's a long way from manifesting.
This definitely comes under speculation, much like The God of the Witches and The White Goddess.
And no, I do not support the witch-cult hypothesis.
We do know that in some cultures women were often the teachers of warriors and kingmakers. The kingship of Odysseus passed through his wife Penelope. Telemachus couldn't become king because it would require marrying his mother.
I think that kingship sometimes might be a hallow, something held in trust by a priestess but wielded by the chosen one. The hallow is handed from priestess to priestess (mother to daughter?), but it can't be used by them. If the king screws up, the priestess can remove the hallow and pass the kingship to another. The hallow is held by the priestess and manifested by the king.
A primitive form of checks and balances, but very practical for small groups. The "king" rules, but the reign is judged by a holy woman.
Each and every day.
The Lady Always Chooses.
And the Lord must prove his worth. Again and again.
Which brings us to another one of mine.
❝The Lady's touch is life. The Lord's touch is love.❞
That certainly goes a long way in explaining more about the Sacred King, doesn't it?
As I said, it's speculation.
But worth thinking about.
