Interconnections
What does this have to do with paganism?
This video has a pretty good explanation of how species and environment are interdependent. It also talks about how Men Who Thought They Knew Best screwed up the Yellowstone ecosystem. They put in the work, so I’ll just point you their way.
Just because we humans don’t like a species doesn’t mean it’s not absolutely essential. Just ask National Geographic.
❝A keystone species is a plant or animal that plays a unique and crucial role in the way an ecosystem functions. Without keystone species, the ecosystem would be dramatically different or cease to exist altogether.
All species in an ecosystem, or habitat, rely on each other. The contributions of a keystone species are large compared to the species' prevalence in the habitat. A small number of keystone species can have a huge impact on the environment. ❞
I don’t talk environmentalism anymore. I do talk ecology. It’s all about the interconnections.
Ecology studies how living systems interact and interconnect with each other. Environmentalism is about teaching and compelling behavior. These two words are not synonyms.
Understanding how life interconnects is absolutely necessary to understanding paganism.
