GreenjackIt's the new season
This is a year I am looking forward to spring. Me,
a winterborn with fuzzy hats and a
fireplace.
I want spring and the budding green. It's not that it's cold, it's been pretty mild weather wise. It's just that I feel like I need the dawning sun and the warmer days. Maybe I need an affirmation of life. Maybe I just need something to knock me out of my loops. I want to feel the sap rise and get hit by the birdsong wall again. I want to see the desert bloom. Twenty two days out of the month, I wear bear pendents. A medicine shield for the waning moon and a modernized Zuni-influenced malachite fetish for the waxing moon. Bear is one reason I am still around, and that happened in the spring. I have another bear pendent I wear on special occasions, it's scrimshaw. I don't normally do this, but I am going to show you the complete banner background picture because it does evoke so much of spring. I really like this picture, it's not one of mine but it's really good. You see the cactus on one side, the foreground is brightly lit but there is a mysterious shadow in the middle. It teases with the promise of the new day and the new season. Very much like spring itself. I'm ready.
