Expose springMoving from thought to action to
manifestation
Today is one of my High Holidays, it runs sunset
to sunset.
The Lady of the Perpetual Flame is not my Matron Goddess, but She is sort of a favorite Aunt who drops by from time to time. Given Her close ties to smithing and poetry, that's not surprising. To me, the Lady and the season represent when thought manifests in physicality. Light from the dark, life from the womb, fire from the spark, and creation from inspiration. Poetry to smithcraft because this day the Wintergate opens to Spring and rebirth. My family has an odd custom that my grandfather used to tell me about. The first fire in a new forge had to be brought by the hand of a lady. Now it's been a long time since my family line lived anywhere but America, and even longer since we were Irish or Scottish. It's impossible to say if this is a family custom handed down from generation to generation to generation or something that one of my ancestors just picked up somewhere. Still, it's fun to speculate. Yesterday I cleaned out my fireplace and dumped all the ashes. I even replaced the fire grate. I have pillar candles on my mantle. I've seeds ready for blessing. I plan to keep vigil tonight. And tie a few knots. Bright Lady Bless.

Pagan philosopher, libertarian, and part-time trouble maker, NeoWayland looks at keeping truths alive despite a wash of nonsense. But don't be surprised when he's doing the "nekkid Pagan guy" thing.
