WebtreeA brief explanation
I've been asked to explain what I mean by the
word "webtree."
My own path isn't a tradition, although it took me a long while to appreciate the difference. If I ever systemize it more and pass it along and then they pass it along, then it's a tradition. Until then it's a path. Although there are those who will tell you that any tradition really requires an initiation, I am not going to get into that discussion again right now. The webtree grew out of my meditations on the world tree. and my (at the time) casual observations that there appeared to be not-so-casual relationships between some of the Kabbalah practices and the Classical idea of Fate weaving. Add the idea of the wyrd, some half speculations about the Force, the Roar, and some other fiction, and I ended up in a a very strange mindspace. That's what I do though. The philosophy thing isn't just a gag. From that mindspace, the next step was to work out some core postulates and see if they applied. The surprising bit was when I found out that those ideas worked outside the artificial mindspace. That's when I started studying in earnest. One idea that cropped up fairly quickly was that there where many ways of picturing the connectional nature of the universe, but that was only part of picture. It was the journey of people and energies through those connections that really made thing potent. Still, I needed a node, a simple visual image that was a keystone to the entire visualization. It wouldn't be a complete map, but a symbolic anchor that would trigger the proper associations in my mind. In the end, it came down to a choice between a labyrinth, a tree of life, or a fingerprint. Each had their strengths and weaknesses, but it was the ToL that resonated best with me. Still, the connectional bit means that one symbol slides easily into the other, all reinforcing reality. What it also means is that sometimes I have a very odd shorthand for spellcraft that doesn't look like it should work, but it does. Like in this example. When I can, I use existing bindings and linkages in my work.

Pagan philosopher, libertarian, and part-time trouble maker, NeoWayland looks at keeping truths alive despite a wash of nonsense. But don't be surprised when he's doing the "nekkid Pagan guy" thing.
