Habits of thoughtBusy busy busy
Yes, I got my iPad this week. That is a big
reason why I haven't blogged this much. I'll be dealing with my iPad in depth
at teknologi, including the problems that a friend
had.
But it also helped show me some sloppy thinking habits. You see, even though I had a "main" identity on MaKai my trusty iMac, since it's been in the sanctum I haven't really used the main account very much. I had the critical emails set to forward to one of the neowayland email addys. The design and consulting business I run on the side lived mainly out of my laptop, which also did some things for the job-that-pays-the-bills. I hardly ever broke it out otherwise. What it boiled down to is that my NeoWayland stuff, the actual design work, and my casual web reading were all shoe horned into one account and one place. It was making me more of a hermit. I'd disappear into the sanctum to look for political news and it would end up shaping most of my thinking there. Most of the online reading I do doesn't need to be done in the sanctum. That is just where one computer stayed set up. And if I only do computer activity there, it defeats the whole purpose of having a sanctum. Even before I got my iPad, I was rethinking things a bit. I knew that it would share emails and bookmarks and calendars with my main account. I'd already broken off the design stuff when I registered the domain there, I'd just put the calendar items that I needed in that account. My plan is to split my data into three main accounts over two computers and an iPad. Most of my casual reading and my mundane email will live on my iPad. My design business and the job stuff will live on the iBook (yes, it's a pre MacBook laptop). And NeoWayland, my working account (pun intended), will live in the sanctum. "The practical upshot of which is if you stick one in your ear…" Oops, wrong thing. The Douglas Adams quote just popped out. Practically speaking, it means that I will leave most of my political and day to day stuff outside the sanctum. At least, except the stuff I've already chosen to write about. And that will help shape my thoughts and focus inside where I work. *grins* I can be very much a creature of habit, especially when the Robot is calling the shots. So I need to banish him from the sanctum. Oh, the "lock wallpaper" for my iPad. I personalized it a bit months ago when I knew I was getting one. I stuck an email and my personal sigil on it. But I started with this picture. Bear is very important to me. I've been told that this is exactly my expression when I'm comfortable in bed and I am looking for an excuse not to get out. Apparently that is when I start nibbling on a shoulder if it's handy. I think I'll finish by saying there are a lot of Bear elements in my personality. If it weren't for Coyote and Raven, I'd probably really be a hermit by now.

Pagan philosopher, libertarian, and part-time trouble maker, NeoWayland looks at keeping truths alive despite a wash of nonsense. But don't be surprised when he's doing the "nekkid Pagan guy" thing.
