Occasionally I wandered in where I was not wanted and gave truthful answers.
Sometimes I even did it deliberately. A little disruption now can prevent disaster later.

journey

That movement along the way that can't be predicted. It's juicy, it's messy, it's mind blowing and it’s supremely passionate. It's ecstatic in a way that passivity never will approach. The Journey is SUPPOSED to drag you out of your comfort zone and your expectations and your perceptions and understandings. You can't walk between the worlds if you have both feet and nine fingers firmly anchored in one. The Story is told while the Journey is lived. The only two purposes of the story are to honor the memory of those who have gone before and to teach you to recognize where the path begins for your own journey. You can only be responsible for your journey alone because it is your journey and no one else’s.

Judeo-Christian heritage

In politics, this phrase supposedly signifies something almost holy, something beyond question, something beyond mere man’s law.

In other words, it’s another “sit down and shut the fuck up!”

The people who use the phrase have appointed themselves cultural gatekeepers and arbiters. They believe that they are the ones who decide what does and does not fit in our society. And since it’s a matter of faith and not law, it can’t be challenged on legal or moral grounds.

After all, who are you to deny the Judeo-Christian heritage? You’re merely human, after all. You don’t have the inspired wisdom of the Almighty on your side.

kafkatrap

Kafkatraps are THE keystone of victimhood politics and most identity politics. Without someone recognizing or assuming blame, kafkatraps cease to work.

Kafkatrapping centers on guilt. Don't accept it. Don't reject it. Act as if the accusation is so silly and undeserved it's not even worth discussing. They will repeat, and you still shouldn't pay any attention to the claims. Go on as if the accuser had said nothing of importance. Indeed, go on as if you are trying to keep them from embarassing themselves further. You're doing them a favor if only they were rational/sober enough to know it.

Kafkatrapping came by way of certain Christian denominations and mala prohibita laws. "Ignorance of the law is no excuse."

To accuse someone of some form of "ism" (sexism, racism etc.) and to proclaim that their denial, or any attempt they make to defend themselves, is proof that they are guilty. A favorite tactic of the social justice warrior.
      www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=kafkatrap

The aim of the kafkatrap is to produce a kind of free-floating guilt in the subject, a conviction of sinfulness that can be manipulated by the operator to make the subject say and do things that are convenient to the operator’s personal, political, or religious goals. Ideally, the subject will then internalize these demands, and then become complicit in the kafkatrapping of others.

It is essential to the operation of all three of the variants of the kafkatrap so far described that the subject’s attention be deflected away from the fact that no wrongdoing by the subject, about which the subject need feel personally guilty, has actually been specified. The kafkatrapper’s objective is to hook into chronic self-doubt in the subject and inflate it, in much the same way an emotional abuser convinces a victim that the abuse is deserved – in fact, the mechanism is identical. Thus kafkatrapping tends to work best on weak and emotionally vulnerable personalities, and poorly on personalities with a strong internalized ethos.

kafkatrapping Model A
Your refusal to acknowledge that you are guilty of {sin, racism, sexism, homophobia, oppression…} confirms that you are guilty of {sin, racism, sexism, homophobia, oppression…}.

kafkatrapping Model C
Even if you do not feel yourself to be guilty of {sin, racism, sexism, homophobia, oppression…}, you are guilty because you have benefited from the {sinful, racist, sexist, homophobic, oppressive,…} behavior of others in the system.

The aim of the Model C is to induce the subject to self-condemnation not on the basis of anything the individual subject has actually done, but on the basis of choices by others which the subject typically had no power to affect. The subject must at all costs be prevented from noticing that it is not ultimately possible to be responsible for the behavior of other free human beings.

kafkatrapping Model D
The act of demanding a definition of {sin, racism, sexism, homophobia, oppression} that can be consequentially checked and falsified proves you are {sinful, racist, sexist, homophobic, oppressive}.

kafkatrapping Model L
Your insistence on applying rational skepticism in evaluating assertions of pervasive {sin, racism, sexism, homophobia, oppression…} itself demonstrates that you are {sinful, racist, sexist, homophobic, oppressive,…}.

kafkatrapping Model M
The act of arguing against the theory of anti-{sin,racism,sexism,homophobia,oppression} demonstrates that you are either {sinful, racist, sexist, homophobic, oppressive} or do not understand the theory of anti-{sin,racism,sexism,homophobia,oppression}, and your argument can therefore be dismissed as either corrupt or incompetent.

kafkatrapping Model P
Even if you do not feel yourself to be guilty of {sin, racism, sexism, homophobia, oppression…}, you are guilty because you have a privileged position in the {sinful, racist, sexist, homophobic, oppressive,…} system.” For the model P to work, the subject must be prevented from noticing that the demand to self-condemn is not based on the subject’s own actions or choices or feelings, but rather on an in-group identification ascribed by the operator of the kafkatrap

kafkatrapping Model S
Skepticism about any particular anecdotal account of {sin, racism, sexism, homophobia, oppression,…}, or any attempt to deny that the particular anecdote implies a systemic problem in which you are one of the guilty parties, is itself sufficient to establish your guilt.

kafkatrapping Model T
Designated victims of {sin, racism, sexism, homophobia, oppression} who question any part of the theory of {sin, racism, sexism, homophobia, oppression} demonstrate by doing so that they are not authentic members of the victim class, so their experience can be discounted and their thoughts dismissed as internalized {sin, racism, sexism, homophobia, oppression}.

ketoh

The modern Navajo people and Hopi have developed bracers known as "ketoh", which are decorated with silver, turquoise, and other adornments, possibly from earlier examples made of bone. Ketohs usually have a central motif, sometimes with a stone ornament, and four curvilinear shapes that radiate toward the corners. Ketohs may have a smooth leather surface on the inside of the arm and are functional, but they are normally used as items of personal and ritual adornment, or as works of art in their own right.

keystone species

A keystone species is a plant or animal that plays a unique and crucial role in the way an ecosystem functions. Without keystone species, the ecosystem would be dramatically different or cease to exist altogether.

All species in an ecosystem, or habitat, rely on each other. The contributions of a keystone species are large compared to the species' prevalence in the habitat. A small number of keystone species can have a huge impact on the environment.

KYFHO

Abbreviation for "Keep Your Freakin' Hands OFF!" only the popular version doesn't use the word Freakin'. It is concept, a philosophy, a political platform, and a warning, but only if you are willing to back it up. KYFHO rests on three assumptions:
  • Nobody owns you except you.
  • Others have no right to do things to you without your consent, or take the things you value without your consent.
  • If anyone does try to do something to you without your consent, any and all resistance is justified.

the Lament

Starts on passing day and lasts for thirteen days and nights. I invented it when a friend passed, and refined it with my stepfather’s passing

language

The language we use and the rules we choose shape our thought.

Experience trumps language every time. Tell someone who has never heard music what Greensleeves is. Tell someone who knows nothing about fruit how amazing homemade peach ice cream is in the summer. Tell a virgin how incredible sex can be with someone you care about.

language game

You can't play the language game with a revealed faith system, they always answer to a Higher Truth™. At least in their own minds. They're the ones who use language to control which thoughts are allowed under which circumstances.

liberty -

liberty argument

I use this against verbose statists nonsense It’s the quickest way to disarm them.
  • Does that person threaten you or yours?
  • Does that person take or damage your property?
  • Then why are you trying to CONTROL them?

live & let live works mostly

One of my common sayings. The best way I know to save your passion for the really important things. See also Golden Rule and parity.

living faith

A living faith draws from three sources.
  • There's what others have done before you.
  • There's who you are and what you've done.
  • And finally there's the link you make to the Divine.
The dynamic balance between these three things drive and shape your faith.

logos

The logical appeal, often uses facts and figures.
— Research inspired by an entry at Chas Clifton's Letter from Hardscrabble Creek

1. (often initial capital letter) Philosophy. the rational principle that governs and develops the universe.

2. Theology. the divine word or reason incarnate in Jesus Christ. John 1:1–14.

loincloth

A loincloth is a species of culotte of primitive origin whose name derives from the Latin lumbus, meaning the pelvic region. It consists of a waistband and a flap of cloth which hangs in front of the pubic region. Strictly speaking, the cloth does not pass through the crotch; if it did the culotte would be a g-string, not a loincloth. Still worn by millions of people daily, often topless, and including both men and women, the loincloth is a dress staple on the planet.

long term working

A set of rituals that takes place over several days at least.

love

I use the Greek ideals of love.
  • Eros is erotic love, possessiveness, an intimate love.
  • Agape or agaph is a selfless love, a self-giving love, self sacrifice that requires no reciprocation. Call this the "just because" love. The appearance of agape is often used to cloak possessiveness. Christianity places a great deal of store by this love, although it can easily mask codependency and some really questionable behavior.
  • Philos is communal, brotherly love. To me, this is the kind of thing that happens when you talk about matters great and small around a campfire. Philos, philosopher. Obviously I value this kind of love. Sadly, it's one of the things that there is all too little of in my life.
  • Storge or storgh is familial love, the love of parents for children or children for parents. To a lessor extent, other relatives as well, although philos plays it's part there too.
  • Philanthropia, roughly translating as for the benefit of humanity. It's become a cliche, but these days we hear of public philanthropy, we wonder what they are hiding. The ancients certainly didn't think like that, to their mind, it brought honor.
  • Ludus or playful love. Think children or young lovers.
  • Pragma is the long standing love that develops between longtime lovers like a husband and wife.
  • Philautia means self-love. The healthier variety expands your ability to experience the other kinds of love.
See pillow talk problem

Ludus

Playful love. Think children or young lovers. One of the Greek ideals of love. See love.

Lysenkoism

Originally in the USSR, a political campaign conducted by Trofim Lysenko and the Soviet authorities against genetics and science based agriculture techniques. Today it means distorting the scientific process to advance a political goal, usually flawed.
